Samaikya Andhra Movement or Samaikyandhra Udyamam (Telugu: సమైక్యాంధ్ర ఉద్యమము; United Andhra Movement) is a people's movement organized to keep the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh united, and to prevent the division of the state - separating the Telangana districts of the state into a separate Telangana state.[1][2][3] The movement is supported by government employees, advocates in Andhra & Rayalaseema regions along with students from 14 universities from these regions, various occupational, caste & religious groups of Andhra & Rayalaseema regions.[4] The current set of protests which were trigerred after the Congress Working Committee decision to divide the state are going on for the last 84 days. This movement is exclusive to Andhra and Rayalseem regions thereby attracting criticism that this is for the unity of Andhra and Rayalseema and has nothing to do with Telangana movement. Analysts have also pointed out that even the name of this movement samaikyandhra excludes Telangana and therfore this is a movement destined to fail in this avowed purpose of keeping the state united.
